I was asked why am I doing this? (in a voice that sounded disgusted at the thought)
Well let's start with the obvious: to stay healthy. The number of obese people amazes me and I don't want to be part of the growing (literally) trend. I would like to be around for awhile and being in good shape/being healthy will hopefully allow for that.
Also, this goes with the just mentioned, but running keeps my waistline in check. It's a great way to be able to eat what I love (everything!!) without feeling guilty...
I do this so I don't have to buy new clothes from eating the previously stated amounts of goodness.
I am doing this to push myself further than I've ever pushed myself. Sure the halves were hard, but the last one I "ran" I didn't train for and was still able to complete it. I know that wouldnt be able to happen for 26.2 miles!
I am doing this to prove to myself that I can. To prove that my body can do it (even with my ever present grey hairs and non functioning knees).
I am doing this because I recently learned that Oprah friggen Whinfrey ran one! Are you kidding me?! If she can than I can!!
I am doing this because I truly do enjoy running. I've mentioned before it's a time I have just for myself. I think that's important whether it's running, spa days, shopping, going to a concert, whatever, everyone should have something just for them.
I am doing this in hopes to find an excuse to get the hubby to travel more so I can run in some fun places. Imagine running a marathon in Bermuda!?
I am doing this because I am sick of saying, while watching the marathon every year, "hey, I really want to do that next year". No more excuses. This body isn't getting any younger! (unfortunately)
And speaking of watching a marathon, I can't wait to be one of the people that the others are cheering for and to see some funny signs. :)
And last but not least, I am doing this so I too can acquire one of those damn 26.2 stickers! :)
