Feeling encouraged!

So the other day I had mentioned I was going to go for an outside run. Well I "mapped my run" and had a game plan. I knew my neighborhood had a few uphills and I got my new high tech running pants, reflective sleeve fleece sweatshirt, and new handy dandy gloves :) AND my iPhone that doesn't skip when I swing my arms... I was ready!! I forgot how quickly it gets dark after work but I didn't let that stop me. No excuses!! I set out and realized the first mile + is pretty flat and even downhill. I immediatly started to think "oh boy it's going to be uphill on my way back when I'm a little tired..." but I kept on trucking. When it was time for me to turn back I kept saying my mantra to myself (don't. Even. Think. About. Quitting.) I never realized how big the uphills are on all the side roads near my house! (I pretended to be on heartbreak hill, even though it doesn't even compare!) But I made it to the top and decided to keep going a little extra. I felt good and I wasn't ready to stop. But then I realized I don't know the streets in the opposite direction at all and since I am scared of the dark I decided it was time to head back. (yes this almost 30 year old is afraid of the dark, i don't want to talk about it). When I got back I checked my watch and realized I ran 41 minutes! :))) and like I said I definately could've kept going! I went back to map my run with the extra I did and it ended up being 4.39! Not the fastest ever, but I will take it! As Miss Garrett would say: "you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the..." Perils of training for a marathon!!! He he he...

"You should run your first marathon for the right reasons, because you'll never be the same person again. You must want to do it, not do it because your boss did it or your spouse did it."
